Self-Quarantine

https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/charlespoet/episodes/2020-03-19T01_14_37-07_00

I’m in self-quarantine more often than not
In these strange days I’ve found it best to stay away from people
I’m also trying to stop sucking on the corporate media’s teat

Black gold lulls one into a false sense of security
The Beverly Hillbillies another disinformation campaign devised by the gray-1% to keep the 99% dispossessed, dispassionate and disenfranchised
There are those who still refuse to vaccinate their children and they won’t survive and it has nothing to do with big government and everything to do with The Lion King

I’m listening to Muddy Waters and daydreaming about Kat in an information-rich pink beam of light
I’m irascible and I know that’s what you’ve always dug about me
Van’s “Take Me Back” is howling and I wish we could be in the same room, ten feet apart because Godliness is still next to cleanliness, even and especially when the inmates are running the asylum

Truth be told I never am not, not thinking about you
I think you’ll catch my drift. This is where I pause, lift my fingers from the keys, tilt my head back and wink at the non-existent camera
I’m doing everything I possibly can to tell myself the truth or what I believe to be the truth as I await a revelation or a quiet epiphany from across the North Atlantic Ocean.

My Litany for Garth House

https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/charlespoet/episodes/2020-03-16T00_16_17-07_00

Common Grounds
Nervous flawless poet
We rode a ride at the Ohio State Fair together

He wrote a letter to me that still to this day gives me goosebumps
Someone with his measure of talent noticed me and it made me smile and even lighter on my feet
We went to Baltimore and afterwards he stole his mother’s car and drove to NYC, they found him naked, ranting about being the anti-Christ

Joan Jett’s “Jezebel” just started playing and I’m not really sure what more I can say about Garth
We watched Bob Dylan’s Renaldo and Clara together, the entire four hours
Garth’s words are fierce tigers, taking on the intelligentsia and winning in the name of all that’s still sacred in our cracked cracker barrel world of incestuous tyrants and their alliances with Satan

Stormy Weather

Another neo-liberal candidate being shoved down our throats
We’re long over-due for some good old civil disobedience with a big honking side of whoop ass
Imagine how Bernie feels giving it his all only to be replaced with an empty husk of a man

Our hearts again broken as we have our asses handed to us by the power elite who believes only in the god of self-preservation
Elizabeth Warren proves again she’s only a progressive when it serves her self-interest and party unity be damned if the nominee is Bernie Sanders!
Hillary Clinton, the sorest loser of them all still shirking responsibility for the awful candidate she always was. I never understood why she didn’t work harder at connecting with people then I realized if you have to work at it you’ve already conceded defeat.

We had another opportunity for a real bite at the apple and we blew it because we’re scared and when push comes to shove we’d rather look the other way than actually help our fellow human
Trump only shined a light on what has always existed just beneath the surface and is now permeating our very DNA as a pandemic of stupidity reigns down on us in monochrome rainbows of spite
Another Tuesday, another democracy hijacked because it’s easier to coalesce around a candidate who checks all of the boxes instead of facing the problem head-on and choosing the candidate with the most enthusiasm and passion behind them.

Dawn Swan

We watched Mean Streets and Sunset Boulevard
It was a football Saturday and I may have read her tarot
Whenever we hang out I feel like I’m in the presence of greatness

She’s so self-deprecating
I wish she believed more in herself
Never forget when we sorted mail and how she made that menial task her bitch

I’d tell you more, but honestly it’s none of your business
Dawn is always in my heart as I believe I am in hers
We watched the sun rise and set in each other’s noir fantasies. Dawn Swan paid attention to me when no one else was tuning in to my station
